Sewer Camera Inspection

4 Steps to Preventing Sewer Line Replacement

If you’re having issues with your home’s sewer lines, you may be thinking that could lead to a complete sewer line replacement. Thankfully, there are many sewer line problems that can be repaired using affordable methods. If you’d like to avoid a sewer line replacement altogether, Curt & Jerry Sewer Service recommends following these four steps to keep your home’s plumbing in premium condition.

1. Be Aware of Possible Sewer Line Problems

When it comes to keeping your home’s sewer line damage-free, there are certain things you can and can’t control. Factors outside of your control include dangerous tree roots, extreme temperatures, and homes with old cast-iron plumbing. Luckily, you can control what is placed into your home’s drains, be it the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, or toilet. The only items that should be placed in the drains are water and toilet tissue. Anything else has the potential to cause a blockage and eventually result in major repairs.

2. Look for Signs of Blocked Sewer Lines

If one of the issues above does lead to a blockage in your home’s sewer line, the best thing to do is address it immediately. How do you know if you have a blockage that needs to be addressed? Watch for any of the signs below:

  • Drains that back up
  • Slow or gurgling drains
  • Foul odors
  • Pooling water on your lawn
  • Septic waste in your yard

3. Schedule a Sewer Camera Inspection

The only way to discover the exact problem inside your home’s sewer lines is to have a sewer camera inspection performed. We can diagnose and repair sewer line issues by running a small digital camera into the sewer line and looking for damage such as cracks, blockages, holes, collapsed pipes, and tree roots.

4. Ask about Sewer Line Repair Options

If the sewer camera inspection discovers minimal damage within the pipes, it can typically be repaired using a simple and affordable method. If extensive damage is discovered that requires partial or full sewer line replacement, we are more than happy to discuss the various options with you and refer you to a trusted and reliable plumber.
